Snow day!

Morgan had another snow day yesterday! She just had one exactly two weeks ago. You'd think we'd had tons of snow, but really it's only because of some freezing on the roads and we are not equipped to keep the roads clear and safe so early in the mornings. All of middle TN was closed. Morgan was excited when she woke up, almost an hour later than normal, and realized what was going on since I hadn't come to wake her up. It did snow off and on all day, which was beautiful, but we never had enough to even play in! We even were able to meet Jason for lunch at the Olive Garden. That was a special treat and got us out of the house. It was actually kind of fun to have them both home again. The girls are really at an age that they play well together and enjoy coming up with games to play. Then, they usually fight and argue for the next 10 minutes, and then are playing sweetly again! Their favorite game yesterday involved my huge workout ball (the kind you sit on to do sit-ups). Morgan laid at the bottom of our staircase covered with a blanket and Mollie went to the top of the steps with the ball. She then would roll it down to bounce off of Morgan. Each time Morgan would just giggle and stay covered up, while poor little Mollie hiked down the stairs to retrieve the ball and then back up to do it all over again. It was great to watch and listen until it started to scare me how hard it would sometimes hit our glass door leading onto the deck! I had to make them use a smaller ball! I cleaned out the fridge and sprayed down every shelf and drawer while all this was happening! My nesting begins gradually....

It's ......ANOTHER girl!

Today was the BIG appointment! We found out that we're having another little girl. Everything looked good and healthy so that's what is truly important. She wouldn't move a whole lot, but they got all the measurements they needed. I was the only one who was really impartial as to what the gender was. Mollie is handling is much better than I expected. She simply rolled her eyes when I told her that it was a girl baby. Then she said, "That's okay, maybe the next baby will be a boy baby!" I quickly shut down that idea! I guess things will be easier and cheaper for us right now, since we have girl stuff already. But the thought of 3 teenage girls and paying for 3 weddings already makes us nervous! Pray for an easy rest of the pregnancy and a smooth transition for our family. I have officially gained 9 pounds now, so stop worrying. I'm sure this baby will be as big as the others. I don't do "tummy shots" but I am showing finally.

Boy or Girl.....What will it be????

We're just 2 days from the big appointment! I'm very excited, but also nervous at the same time. I truly don't care what it is, as long as it's healthy. I don't have a "gut feeling" of which I think it is either. In some ways, having another girl seems easier since we have clothes, bedding and toys already... but experiencing a boy would be great too. Jason would love to have a son. And Mollie is dead set in her stubborn little head that it is a boy baby and she's having a baby brother! The only reasoning I can figure is that I keep Hudson (18 month old) and she LOVES her cousin Bennett, so most of the younger kids she's around are boys. I keep trying to tell her that we can't just decide what we want it to be and that's it, but that we'll get whatever God wants us to have. It's not sinking into her hard head! Morgan, on the other hand, wants another girl. This surprised me since she already has a sister; I though she'd want a brother this time. When I questioned it, she turned to Mollie and said, "Do you want him to hit you all the time and be rough?" HA HA!! She's 6, and to her, all boys are rough and hit!!! She's forgetting that she'll be 6 1/2 years older than this baby and by the time it's her age, she'll be 12!! AUGH!!***Take note-a funny comment from Morgan. I feel like all my funny stories are from Mollie, since Morgan is older and thinks things through more.

Quick update of the week!

As usual, we were very busy last week. Jason was in Atlanta Tuesday through Thursday, I tutored right after school on Tues and Thurs (those are also the days that Mollie is in school), and on Wednesday, I babysat Hudson -my next door neighbor's 18 month old grandson. He usually comes on Mondays, but we had to switch this week. So then, Wednesday ended up being a "SNOW DAY" and Morgan didn't have school. She was very excited since this was her very first snow day and first day being home to play with Hudson. It snowed a little but nothing huge, but there were a lot of icy roads apparantly! So I had all 3 of them home that day. Plus, I had procrastinated on getting the Valentines they needed to exchange at school the next day, and now the roads were icy. I really was going to go the easy route this year and buy them and not be super mom. But, I don't drive in bad weather, so we sponge painted hearts and made our own Valentines all morning (20 for Morgan and 6 for Mollie, plus a Valentine card for Hudson's parents). Then I had to make decorated sugar cookies for Morgan's party on Thursday. I couldn't wait until evening because I had to teach a class at church. So, needless to say it was a very busy morning in the Herring household. Naptime was at 1....I slept about an hour, Morgan-2, Mollie-3 and Hudson-4!!! Then, Hudson left at 5pm and I bathed the girls quickly before church. Just call me Super Mom!!!

Road to recovery... at last!

Okay, Morgan wasn't bluffing this time. She ended up being home from school on Thursday and Friday with 102 degree fevers and bad congestion. The doctor thinks it was the flu, even though the test was negative. She's feeling much better and Jason and I even got to take advantage of some free babysitting at church last night for a "Parents Night Out." So much for my resting with her getting sick right as I'm starting to feel better! Hopefully, we are all on the road to recovery!
Although, sometimes Mollie acts like a boy in disguise...she is quite the little princess too! Morgan is quite studious and usually more reserved, while Mollie is adventurous, more outgoing around new people and much more stubborn. Well, Mollie is very dramatic. She often rolls her eyes (not disresectfully, but just to emphasize her point!), and is constantly singing and dancing. She can not watch High School Musical any more without props. She gets balls, books, purses, at the appropriate time for the songs and "acts" them out. She leans on things, leaves the room, etc as she watches. Friday night, she had to fully dress as Gabriella, including the wig, to perform the last song. And at church last night, she made a princess wand that she used today to turn me into a "butiful princess." Then she declared that I needed a "pince" (prince). I told her that I already had one-that Daddy was my prince. Her reply was..."oh, then you need to go to marry him and dance!"

Hyperchondriac???

It seems like not a week goes by now that Morgan doesn't call me from school saying she has a headache. Since she's just 6 and loves her teacher and school, we're very concerned about this. She doesn't usually fake things to get out of doing things, so I typically believe her. But when that phone rings and the caller ID says "rutherford county schools," I just cringe! Last week, I took her to the doctor to have them check her over to make sure we weren't missing anything. The last time she had strep, she never complained of her throat, only her head. Well, they found nothing, but think she must have allergies and that would cause the on-and-off headaches. But after that worthless visit, I told her she must have a fever or be throwing up, or she needs to tough it out and make it through the day. I just can't come get her at every little pain! I sound very mean, don't I?
Today, just as Mollie and I were trying to have a late lunch (around 12:30), it happened again.
Me: Hello?
Morgan: Hi, Momma. I have a 99.7 (nothing high, but her normal is around 97). They took my temperature in the office and said so.
Me: Does anything hurt?
Morgan: my head
Jason later called to check on me, since this was the first day since Saturday that I've felt among the living! I told him I just wanted one normal week, with no phone calls to pick anyone up early, or no one (including myself) needing to go to the dr, etc. I can't complain much though. Mollie came home and slept from 1:20-5 when I woke her and Morgan for about 2 1/2 hours. We had horrible storms last night so none of us slept our best.

Moms aren't supposed to get sick!

I can't remember ever being as sick as I was this weekend. I've pretty much been in bed since Saturday. I went to the doctor Friday morning because even when I wasn't coughing, my chest was killing me. They said I had bronchitis and pluracy (sp?), but because I'm pregnant, didn't want me to take the antibiotic until Monday, if I wasn't any better. Well, I went on the the Children's Theatre with Morgan's class (only because we just had to watch and not talk), then came home and took a nap. By Saturday morning, I was crying every time I coughed, it hurt so bad. Thank goodness for the weekend and Jason being home. He did his best to keep the girls entertained, take care of me and somewhat keep them away so I could rest.
Mollie had similar symptoms (nose and yucky cough), but they thought hers was just drainage. She was still able to sing this song from school for me ..and dance too.
Words: I'm all wrapped up, all tied up, all tangled up
in Jesus
all wrapped up, tied up, tangled up in God, oh yeah!

Well, over the weekend I developed a sinus infection on top of the bronchitis, so I had to start the antibiotic on Monday. It's already helping, but my cough still sounds awful and I could still sleep all day, if given the chance.

Today is Morgan's 100th day of Kindergarten, so she had to bring in a project today with 100 items displayed. Usually, this is my department, but given my recent sickness, my brain was not so creative, and Daddy had to step up to the plate! Check out Morgan's TFAA poster made with Daddy's pens! Jason said, "I'm sure this is not what the marketing dept had in mind when they sent me all these!"
