Mollie's black eye

Sunday night at Life Group, Mollie and a boy about her size collided heads. Well, his head, her face! He ran to tell me they'd hit heads and she was flat on the ground. When she finally came to me, she hadn't taken that first breath yet and she already had a blue goose egg under her eye. We've never had a facial injury before. We immediately got her some ice, which she didn't want to hold on until I showed it to her. She is so tough...it has hardly slowed her down. The only picture of the bump was on my cell phone, but here's the black eye on Tuesday.

It actually looks a little worse in real life than I can capture in a picture. Her nose is a little swollen now too!

Santa breakfast and Santa at the bank

Morgan had her first snow day this year last Friday. We played a little in the morning, but it was very frozen and we really couldn't build anything. If I'd have known they weren't going to have school, I wouldn't have put them to bed at 7:30 and let them play in it while it was coming down soft and flaky! By afternoon, most was melted, so we went to the bank where the "good-looking" Santa is!
On Saturday, we had our Breakfast with Santa at our church. We had delicious pancakes from IHOP and the girls had a lot of fun.
Mia and our friends Brian and Cindy's boy Blake. Mia is 3 weeks older than him.

Another picture with Santa...this year was great though because Mia's not old enough to be scared of him. Next year, she'll be screaming in every picture!

Mia was worn out by the time breakfast was served! Notice her hand clenching her toys...

Sharpay's timeout

I just thought this was so cute! A few days ago, Mollie was playing with the Sharpay and Gabriella dolls from HSM. She was trying hard to get a hat on Sharpay, when the doll slipped off the table and fell on Mollie's foot. It hurt her and when she finished crying, I heard her telling Sharpay that she needed to go sit in time out for a few minutes! This caught my attention, especially since we've never put the girls in time-out at home. She took the doll and sat her in the CORNER of our dining room. After about 5 minutes, she told me that it was time for her to go have a little talk with Sharpay so she could get up!

One last trip to Indy before Christmas

The girls and I made one last trip to Indy last weekend. J stayed at home to get some work done...he had been there just 2 weeks before to hunt. It would have been 7 weeks since we'd seen them if we'd just waited until Christmas and no one likes to go that long! Mom and I were able to do a little shopping together while Dad graciously offered to stay home with the girls. We did take Mia with us because it snowed and they wouldn't have been able to play in it if she'd have been there. Morgan and Mollie were SOOOO excited to go sledding since they hardly ever have much snow to play in.
These were snowman pancakes that Grandma made for the girls.
Here is a video of the girls sledding down my parent's driveway. Dad stood at the bottom so he could watch for cars coming!

I made the girls pose by this tree at church Sunday.

Santa's call

Morgan got a phone call from Santa tonight. I was expecting it (since I'd filled out the form), however I had turned it in late so I wasn't sure if he'd still call. She had been in bed for about 20 minutes, but I figured she'd still be awake. She just kept repeating, "yes...yes...yes" and her eyes would get big and then her mouth would fall open, I guess as he talked about getting to work on the specific things she's asked for and as he talked about her sisters. Then she handed the phone to me, but never told him goodbye. I hung up, only to find out that he had wanted to talk to Mollie too. She was too speechless to tell me that! She just kept saying, "was that the real Santa?". This may have been just what she needed this year....she's at that age where she's asking a LOT of questions and starting to wonder.....

Thanksgiving

We have returned from a long weekend in Birmingham for Thanksgiving. I got a little shopping done but couldn't take full advantage of the Friday deals due to a Herring family picture at 10am! Obviously, I didn't schedule the time. Jason's mom and I headed out around 5:15 and were back by 8am to get cleaned up for the pictures. We were at a beautiful park (but it was a cloudy, gloomy day) but I felt like I was constantly getting on to the girls about running, climbing, etc in their dresses. We weren't exactly dressed to "play" at the park!
Most pictures turned out okay but Mia was tired and wouldn't smile for anything! Here are a few from my camera....I haven't seen the real proofs yet!

This is J's cousin Bryan and his wife Jenny's youngest daughter, Megan, who is 5 months older than Mia.
Lots of smiles from Mia later in the weekend ....just not while wearing red for card pictures!!
I know I shouldn't do this, but they hardly ever all take a bath together anymore. I made everyone cover any private parts!
